Congressional Districts (CDs) were completely changed within Orange County. For the November 2020 election, most of Mission Viejo was situated in CD-45, with a small portion of south Mission Viejo in CD-49. Katie Porter and Mike Levin were elected as the Representatives for these two districts, respectively. For the November 2022 election, all of Mission Viejo was moved to CD-40, an entirely new district with new candidates; Representative Porter decided to change districts and is now running for the seat in the new CD-47.

California State and Assembly Districts were also substantially redrawn for November 2022. Mission Viejo was situated in State Assembly District 73 and State Senate District 36 in November 2020. Now Mission Viejo residents will be represented by candidates running for new State Assembly District 71 and State Senate District 38.

Orange County Supervisorial Districts were changed effective January 6, 2022.
Prior to that date, Mission Viejo was in District # 5, with Lisa Bartlett serving as our County Supervisor. After that date, Mission Viejo was moved to District # 3, along with Supervisor Donald Wagner who will serve in that seat until the November 2024 election.
